Overall Objective

Our training session provides you with a general understanding of the changes that the Canada Border Services Agency has implemented under its CBSA Revenue and Assessment Management (CARM) initiative.

1.5 Hours

Available packages:

The CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) initiative has completely transformed the way the CBSA manages the import of commercial goods into Canada and the way the agency interacts with importers and customs brokers. The CBSA rolled out its online CARM portal in May 2021, allowing importers to register on it. It is mandatory for an importer to register their company on the CARM client portal, grant access to their employees, delegate authority to their customs broker, post a financial security instrument and be prepared to sign up for direct payment methods to the CBSA before CARM Version 2 takes effect, which is scheduled for October 2023.

Using real-life examples, our customs expert will cover the following topics:

  • CARM overview
  • CARM timeline
  • What is changing under CARM and what is staying the same?
  • The CARM Client Portal (CCP)
  • What are “delegation of access” and “delegation of authority”?
  • What is a “financial security instrument”?
  • Fee payment options under CARM
