Importing and exporting goods requires careful preparation. Our training session describes the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders and the regulations in effect to help you prepare for the requirements of international trade.
The successful import and export of goods does not happen by chance. For starters, you must be aware of the rules of the importing or exporting country. Does my product comply with local regulations? What information and documents must I provide? Is it better to use the services of a customs broker?
It is also important to be very familiar with the product, including its detailed description, composition and use. Are there any customs duties, taxes or anti-dumping duties that apply to the import? These are all fees that could significantly change the cost of purchase or sale.
Do I need a license, permit or phytosanitary certificate for certain controlled goods? Who is responsible for filing the export and import documents and declaration? Should I make sure that the goods are insured against loss or damage during transport?
These are all questions you should be able to answer before even accepting or placing an order, so as to avoid unpleasant surprises that can be very costly.
